Established in 1920, Swansea University gained a well-deserved reputation as a research-led institution. Guardian University Guide 2021 put it on the list of 25 research universities in the UK. It also thrives in the areas of student support and teaching excellence.

The university’s seven colleges are distributed between two campuses. The Singleton Park campus features The Swansea University Medical School, College of Arts and Humanities, College of Human and Health Sciences, and The Hillary Rodham Clinton School of Law. The new Bay Campus accommodates the College of Engineering, Computer Science, and School of Management.

The university accepts 20,000 students yearly, a large portion of whom come from overseas. In total, people from over 130 countries rely on Swansea University as their alma mater. One of the reasons they choose the university is ample employment opportunities – the institution is in the top-15 for graduate employment and has an excellent 97% employment record. It is also a holder of the Gold Rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework, which recognizes its achievements in creating an inclusive learning environment.

International students are able to gain one of the following scholarships: the £6,000-worh International Excellence Scholarship, the Postgraduate Taught Scholarship of up to £4,000, and the International Merit Scholarship worth £2,000.

Overview

The university is based in Swansea, Wales’ second-largest city on the southwest coast of the country. Its Singleton Park campus provides stunning sea views and is surrounded by a large park ideal for sports activities and recreation. The Bay Campus sits right on the beach. Both campuses are within a few minutes’ walk to the city centre. Swansea is recognized as one of the safest places to study, it offers various cultural delights, and is relatively inexpensive.

All first-year students (both under- and postgraduates) are guaranteed to receive accommodation. In total, the university provides 4,500 rooms. There are 1 and 2-bed flats, shared and single en-suite rooms, as well as premium options.

Swansea University runs pre-sessional courses with varying durations as well as ensures customized language support for international students. It has a week-long introduction programme for new students and a pick-up service from Heathrow Airport.
