Founded in 1967, the University of Stirling is a multicultural centre of education excelling at teaching, research and innovation. It is comprised of a range of institutes, centres and four faculties offering more than 220 undergraduate and 90 postgraduate courses. Thanks to four year degree programmes, the university maintains a very flexible approach to education leading to high levels of students satisfaction (it is in the top twenty in the UK according to The National Student Survey) and excellent employability. Over 97% of Stirling’s graduates find a job or continue education within 6 months after receiving their diplomas.
The university hosts more than 14,000 students yearly and about 20% of them come from outside the UK. Overall, its student population represent 120 nationalities. Many of the students opt for studying abroad for one academic year – it is possible due to strong links with institutions from over 65 countries. International degree programmes are possible thanks to partnerships with Hebei Norman University in China, the Singapore Institute of Management and many others.
The University of Stirling is a large research centre. Its Innovation Park founded in 1993 welcomes more than 50 companies engaged in development and research. It is also Scotland’s University for Sporting Excellence offering membership with 120+ clubs and teams.

The university is located in the heart of Scotland, 45 minutes away by train from both Glasgow and Edinburgh. The university’s 360-acre site is rightly considered one of the most beautiful in the country and the top rated in the UK for its environment by ISB 2016. The campus is spread at the foothills of the Ochil Hills with access to wildlife, endemic flora and fauna, a lake and even an 18th-century castle. Everything students may need in their everyday life such as banks, pharmacies, shops, restaurants, etc. are within a 10 minute’s walk from the campus and the city centre, as well as an ancient spa town of Bridge of Allan, are a short bus ride away.
The university provides housing in 3,000 rooms, 2,000 of which are on campus. Besides traditional shared and single room accommodations, it has townhouses for families and groups of students. First-year international students have priority when applying for accommodation.
