Overview
As the fifth largest UK city, Sheffield is lively, multicultural and welcoming. It has managed to retain a big village vibe. The vast and beautiful countryside is available just outside the city to explore. 2019 NatWest Student Living Index placed Sheffield in the top ten most affordable places and government statistics recognise it as one of the safest cities to live in. Sheffield is located in the very heart of the UK, which makes it a great starting point for journeys across the country. It is two hours from London and one hour from Manchester by train.
The University of Sheffield is not a campus university but all of its buildings are located in close proximity of each other. A mile-long stretch of buildings belonging almost exclusively to the university lies just one mile from the city centre.
The university provides almost 6,000 places in its halls of residence. Accommodation is guaranteed to all international undergraduate students in their first year at the university. Housing options are represented by rooms with en-suites and shared kitchens, flats with shared bathrooms, studio apartments and deluxe rooms.
Students are well cared for at the University of Sheffield. They have access to English Language Teaching Centre providing language classes, International Support Service, International Student Advisor and a designated personal tutor.
