The university benefits from a truly multinational student community. 4,000 students of its 24,000 student population represent foreign countries. To help bring the cost of education down for international students, it provides a number of bursaries and scholarships. The Vice Chancellor’s Global Development Scholarship reduces the first-year tuition fee by £1,600. A £5,000 Chancellor’s Global Academic Merit Scholarship is available to students from specific African, Asian and Caribbean countries. Besides that, the School of the Environment, Geography and Geosciences as well as the Faculty of Business and Law provide scholarships for their students.

Accommodation on campus is available to all first year international students. Halls of residence located around the city provide around 5,000 en-suite, catered, and self-catered rooms.
