Launched in 1964, Lancaster University has always kept its focus on innovations. It is a member of the N8 group of Northern research universities with a strong research reputation. Thanks to links with other research and education institutions around the world, Lancaster provides vast opportunities to study abroad. It has partners in the US, China, Germany, Malaysia and Ghana. Its success in building global educational networks contributed to the The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide title of The International University of the Year in 2020.
Lancaster is the only university in the UK to feature a collegiate system made up of eight undergraduate colleges and a college for postgraduate students. The university is well known for flexible courses. First year students have an opportunity to choose subject options before choosing to specialise in a certain area in the next years of study. 88% of third year students are more satisfied with the educational process than the UK average.
Lancaster’s teaching staff ensure the highest quality of education and Gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework award is proof of that. Outside the classrooms, students have a chance to use the Career centre to their advantage. It helps with a variety of job related matters from career advice to finding work placements and CV writing workshops.
The university enrols 12,000 students, and a large portion of them come from more than a hundred countries. EU students can obtain The Lancaster EU Transition Scholarship worth £7,000 per year for outstanding grades.
